0.9 beta 2 is actually very stable. The only reason we're not moving to 0.9 final is because we're trying to finalize how configuration is done across multiple environments (Spring, EJB3, standalone, etc). JSecurity is of course usable in these environments today, we're just trying to make that easier.
Once that is done, we'll release 0.9 RC1 and then 0.9 final. But 0.9 beta 2 is more than capable in production environments today (in fact, we know of quite a few production environments that are already using it).
